Counting down to Ramadan serves several purposes:

Many who witnessed last Ramadan are no longer with us. Many who are ill wish they could fast. Many who are poor wish they had food to break their fast with. If Allah grants you another Ramadan, treat it as the precious gift it is.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your busyness, and your life before your death." (Hakim)
