Fidya

Paid when you CANNOT fast due to valid reasons such as illness and old age and CANNOT make up the days (penalty: £5 per fast missed).

Kaffarah

Paid if you deliberately BREAK a fast without valid reason (penalty: feed 60 people, £300 per fast) or BREAK an oath (penalty: feed 10 people, £50 per oath).
