A single Qurbani donation is one share. This provides approximately 57 nutritious meals, and supply protein-filled meat to children and their families.
Qurbani honours the tradition established by the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his beloved son Ismail (AS). It demonstrates our devotion to Allah as exemplified through their story of sacrifice.
We called to him, “O Ibrahim, you have fulfilled the vision. Indeed, we thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, this was a clear trial.” -The Holy Qur’an 37:104
Qurbani is the sacrifice of sheep, goats, and cattle between the tenth and twelfth days of Dhul Hijjah as commanded by Allah (SWT). It takes place in the final month of the Islamic calendar during the days of Eid-al-Adha.
According to many scholars, Qurbani is an obligation for all Muslims whose wealth reaches the Zakat threshold.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “For every hair of the Qurbani, you receive a reward from Allah (SWT)” (Tirmidhi)
Donating Qurbani is a very rewardable action. The most important part of giving Qurbani is the intention: it must be given humbly with God-consciousness (Taqwa).
It is advisable to donate as early as possible to ensure there is enough time for allocation and preparation.
The time for physically offering the sacrifice begins after the Eid prayer on Eid-al-Adha, which this year is expected to be Sunday 16th of June, and ends when the sun sets on the thirteenth of Dhu’l-Hijjah.
There are three days of sacrifice: the day of Eid-al-Adha and the two days after it.
We work with established partners on the ground to locate countries, communities, and people that are most in need. When we say your donation is being delivered to where most needed, rest assured that you are helping support some of the most vulnerable children in the world!
Child Relief will endeavour to use your gift as requested, wherever possible. If for any reason we cannot use your donation as you have indicated, we will use it to fund similar projects in other countries or other projects in the relevant country. Child Relief’s strategic overview and on the ground experience means we are in the best position to decide how to meet the needs of children.
We partner with world class charitable and humanitarian organisations, with proven track records of delivering child-centric programmes that make a significant impact to the lives of children in desperate need.
Some of our appeals are restricted, with the aim to raise funds for specific items or projects. Other appeals support an unrestricted fund within a country of need or in global support of emergencies. The flexibility provided by unrestricted programmatic funds has huge benefits in creating resiliency in the ability of our partner organisations to respond to emergencies, conflicts and humanitarian catastrophes that affect children, wherever they may occur.
We provide donors with quality feedback and regular updates on the impact of our work.
